Therapy for Trauma and Healing In California
Trauma is the response to an experience or event that results in psychological, emotional and/or physical distress. Consequently, many survivors may continue to face stressful experiences long after the event. The severity of trauma may result in intense experiences like intrusive thoughts, trouble with sleep, depression, substance use, persistent anxiety, disassociation, hypervigilance, and emotional outbursts.
These and/or other patterns emerge as adaptive responses to threatening situations, highlighting our resilience. While these ways of coping make sense in that context, it's important for us to recognize that some of these patterns may no longer be supportive to us and could potentially create more challenges in our life.
In therapy we will closely examine trauma-related responses that are often categorized as anxiety, depression, substance use, and many others. I will help you understand the impact of trauma on your overall well-being, developing new coping strategies, establishing emotional safety within yourself, and repairing your mind-body connection. If any of these experiences resonate with you or if you have any follow-up questions, I encourage you to reach out to me for further information.
