Individual Therapy
When we begin working together, I'll initially collect details from you regarding your current feelings, experiences, background, and history. We'll discuss your treatment goals, and if you're uncertain about them, we can collaboratively define and refine them over time. In therapy my goal is to create a space dedicated to you and the exploration of your experiences. Using compassion as our guide, we'll gently explore your experiences on a systemic level and personal level, and together we'll take a look at how these aspects impact your experiences in your everyday life.
We each carry significant stressors and past traumas into our current existence. Throughout our life, we develop strategies to protect ourselves and navigate these internal challenges. Together, we'll explore the protective aspects of your internal system that may have served you in the past but are currently maintaining unsupportive patterns. We may delve into the layers of your past and wounded self, learning to honor any neglected needs in the present. Emphasizing your strengths, we'll uncover alternative approaches that feel more supportive to you.
I approach therapy with a trauma-informed perspective, drawing from a diverse range of theories such as supportive, relational, psychodynamic, and holistic frameworks. While I am extensively trained and experienced in evidence-based behavioral therapies, we may or may not choose to utilize them during our meetings. I aim to support you in discovering joy while also encouraging the embrace and celebration of your many dimensions. If any of these experiences resonate with you or you have any follow-up questions I encourage you to contact me for more information.
Couples, Multi-partnered relationships, & Families
When we begin working together, I'll initially collect details from you regarding your current feelings, experiences, background, and history. I typically meet with each individual in the group separately at least once as part of the intake process. We'll discuss your treatment goals, and if you're uncertain about them, we can collaboratively work on goals.
I offer a space for people to process conflict, navigate new or recurring issues, and integrate alternative communication skills. I work with all styles and structures of relationships. I’ve helped relationships in discussing ways to enhance their relationships, be it through non-monogamy, a variety of relationship structures, life transitions, finding a balance between autonomy and connection, navigating family concerns, or compassionately parting ways.
My focus is on supporting each individual within the relationship and nurturing the relationship itself. I support relationships through daily challenges, decision-making, ongoing stressors, and/or outcomes of accumulated stressors. Together, we'll explore other ways to engage with yourself and others, and get a better understanding of what areas are needing more support in the relationship. I am passionate about helping people listen more deeply and communicate more lovingly.
My treatment approach is influenced by Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, mindfulness, strength-based, internal family systems, relational psychodynamic therapy among other treatment approaches. It’s crucial to emphasize that the goal is to reduce relational harm, and I view my work as an ongoing process. I create space to recognize the impact of patriarchy, colonialism, and white supremacy on relationships. I believe we cannot effectively minimize harm and resolve conflicts without addressing these societal influences. If any of these experiences resonate with you or you have any follow-up questions I encourage you to contact me for more information.
